The story of Thai Kai
My name is Manoros.
Food is my passion, it is my source of inspiration and it has always been a part of my life, and I believe good food makes people happy. When I arrived in 1999, I had no idea what New Zealand had in store for me. My family always enjoyed socializing, cooking and sharing food.
I ran a little restaurant on the North Shore until 2011 and then Thai Kai was born. Coming from Thailand and blending into a vibrant New Zealand, there was no name more apt than Thai Kai. Kai does not only mean food in Te Reo Māori, it is also a celebration of food. Tucked in a little corner of Lynfield and Mt Roskill, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, you will find Thai Kai bursting with aroma and friendly people.
I have been able to diversify a little by creating authentic chilli sauces and handmade soaps. I have always liked to be creative and do what I like doing best. I enjoy experimenting with taste, blending Thai food with a touch of local flavours. Made with only the freshest ingredients, you will get home-style preparation with no MSG, preservatives or added colours in my food, sauces or soaps.
I believe that food should be able to create way of life. Through my cooking, sauces and soaps I endeavour to bring to you food and products which are rich in heritage, culture and history. If you enjoy a great authentic meal, pop in and try us out. I am always creating fresh batches of sauces and dukkah, which I am sure you will enjoy too.
